Last year was full of challenges that prepared me to be the brave woman I have become although most of my life has been this way. But this year is different. My goals are softer, quieter, and yet require just as much hard work.

This year my goal is to focus on giving, gratitude, and grace.

This year my armor will look a little different. My armor will be more about vulnerability in a new way and finding ways to serve others like never before.

As I prepare for my speech for TEDXNatick 2020, I am realizing more and more just how much self-care is important when we need to be brave. But more importantly, self-care is important when we want to give back. How can we give from an empty cup?

My goals with my part time job and non-profit are to be a light to others day.

To not rescue anyone. To simply be there as a light and someone who listens well. I spent so many years wanting to feel heard and now that I do, I want to offer that back to others in new ways.

I aim to slim my circle of folks I talk to on a daily to really find my center. My goal is to be as grounded as possible every day, despite my daily sensory, social, and medical issues. My goal is to be the woman who will one day be a strong mother and wife. My goal is to be a better friend, sister, and daughter.

This year will be one of meditation, reflection, and listening.

However, I have an amazing feeling that it will be a powerful one. Sometimes the quietest times are the most life changing. What are ways you can be a better listener? What are ways you can slow down to pace yourself for 2020? What grounds you most and how can you incorporate that into your days this year?
